Dallas Zoo Missing Clouded Leopard Found

The Dallas Zoo has recovered a missing clouded leopard, who escaped from what appears to be an “intentionally” cut enclosure, and police are now investigating whether a monkey enclosure at the zoo was also tampered with as well, according to CBS News.

The clouded leopard, who was named Nova, escaped from her enclosure on Friday morning which forced the Dallas Zoo to close while an hours-long search went underway in attempt to bring Nova back to the zoo.

Fortunately, she was safely secured near her habitat on Friday evening, according to the Dallas Zoo, and released a statement that said that investigators determined a “cutting tool” was used to cut an opening in the fencing of Nova’s habitat.

According to CBS DFW, Harrison Edell, Dallas Zoo’s executive vice president for animal care and conservation, said that zoologists found a tear in the mesh of her two-story habitat with personnel from the zoo later finding a “similar cut” in the fencing of an enclosure which houses langur monkeys, but none of the monkeys escaped, nor were any harmed.

Nova came to the Dallas Zoo from the Houston Zoo
